Introducing the Gisborne Foodbank Cooking Group
We are so excited to share some wonderful news from within the Gisborne Foodbank community — the launch of our very own Cooking Group!
How It All Began
Established in May this year, the Gisborne Foodbank Cooking Group was born out of a simple but powerful idea: that some of our clients, for a variety of reasons, have difficulty preparing meals for themselves. Whether through illness, disability, or the overwhelming pressures of doing it tough, a home cooked meal can make an enormous difference to someone's day.
The group was spearheaded by Lynne, our former Operations Manager, whose passion for the community and eye for what our clients truly need made her the perfect person to bring this vision to life.
What the Group Has Achieved
Since launching, the Cooking Group has met twice and the results have been remarkable. Each session, the dedicated group of volunteers has come together to prepare around 80 meals and snacks, which are then distributed to clients who need them most. From hearty Shepherd's Pies and vegetable-based meals to freshly baked muffins, the feedback from clients has been overwhelmingly positive.
Our Generous Sponsors
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our local business community. We are deeply grateful to the following sponsors who have helped make the Cooking Group a reality:
Hardwicks of Kyneton
Foodworks Gisborne
New Gisborne Community Garden
Aldi Gisborne
Office National Gisborne
Their generosity in providing produce, supplies and support means our volunteers can focus on what they do best — cooking with love for those who need it most.
Get Involved
